We are looking forward to welcoming you to the hugely anticipated fifth annual Namaqua Flower Beach Camp. Every year nature performs a miracle in the Northern Cape, sprinkling confetti as far as the eye can see. Nature’s confetti. The seasonal winter rains over the west coast and adjacent interior, trigger one of the most spectacular floral kingdoms a truly breathtakingly beautiful phenomenon, which is quite possibly unlike anything you have experienced before.

What to do at the Beach Camp?

Picnics - Head off to explore the beauty of the coast with a picnic basket packed for two. The area is very remote so this is the perfect companion for the drive. R200 per couple

Explore - Visit the Spoegrivier Caves, the Seal Colony and watch the meerkats get up to mischief. 4x4 vehicles only.

Spa Baths - Enjoy a luxurious pampering spa bath - private and exclusively yours for 45 minutes. 

Book in advance at breakfast time - only 4 spaces weather permitting. R50 per person - only

Daisy tripping - through the flowers at Skilpad: Hire a bike for the day, pack a picnic basket, your hat and a camera and breathe in the peace and quiet as you meander at snails pace across fields of colour. 

In orrder to maximise your experience, we would like to bring the following to your attention: 

  • The evenings are cold, so please pack a warm jacket.
  • Packing a torch would be a good idea.
  • There will be a cash bar on site.
  • Please note that there are no credit card facilities.
  • The closest town is Garies (very small) which is 70km from camp.
  • Please note that the site has no cell phone reception.
  • You will need to report to the SANParks office at Groenrivier for registration before you enter the camp.
  • Travel insurance is advised in case of emergencies whilst travelling in this remote area.
  • TIC is a possible effective and affordable option.
  • Check- in time is 2pm and check-out time is 10am.

Extend your stay...just a little bit longer. Visit Namaqua Flower Skilpad Camp before or after your stay at the beach camp. Only R1500 per tent (maximum 2 people per tent). Dine in camp for R160 per person and enjoy hearty and delicious braais, potjies and pies. Restaurant and lounge on site. The Namaqualand region and specifically the Namaqua National Park now boasts a recently proclaimed coastal section, which, during the flower season, bursts into a carpet of colour quite unlike anything you have experienced before. Guests that arrive to see this annual spectacular event can experience the luxury and convenience of mobile tented camps. The site is situated along the coastline of the recently included portion of Namaqualand National Park. Guests will be accommodated in done tents which can accommodate two guests in single beds. Each tent has an electric light, electric blankets, and full linen and amenities. Each tent also has its own private, but detached, warm water bucket shower system and chemical flush toilet. We currently have two camps operational over this period namely Namaqua Flower Skilpad Camp which will run from 7 August to 15 September 2015 and then Namaqua Flower Beach Camp which will run from the 14th August until the 13th September 2015.




Namaqua Flower Beach Camp is located in the Namaqua National Park for a limited period over the peak flower season – and the 2015 dates are 14th August until the 13th September 2015. A total of 10 tents are established each year in a remote and scenically stunning location 1 km north of the Groenrivier entrance to the Namaqua National Park. The site is situated along the coastline of this recently included portion of the National Park. Guests are accommodated in luxury dome tents and tasty west coast meals will be provided. Whilst the camp can be reached with a normal sedan, your experience in the park will be greatly enhanced with a 4×4 vehicle, as access to the central and northern areas of the park is only possible with a 4×4 vehicle. The west coast is famous for its rich west coast fare and we intend to capture some of the flavours and combinations as we present freshly prepared meals each day. The daily programme will include, breakfast / brunch from 09h00 until 10h00, followed by high tea at 15h00 and dinner from 19h30. Optional picnic baskets are available on request for those who wish to explore the park during the day. Cost for the Picnic basket is R200 (for 2 people). Our dome tents can accommodate two guests in single beds. Each tent has an electric light, electric blankets, and full linen and amenities. Each tent also has its own private, but detached, warm water bucket shower system and chemical flush toilet.
